11.09.03 Repercussion, isometric sequencing.
The interfaces of the music sequencing programs are developing their own peculiarities, stimulating the artists to give their own interpretations of a well-consolidated paradigm. The recursive flow of the sounds, marked by their elements enclosed in the loops, has been reconfigured with very different parameters and perspectives which have fully exploited the aesthetical possibilities of their representation. Pixelsymphonie ak.5, Potluck, Soundscape_pan, Modifyme, Hearing Colors, Dubselector and Actionist Respoke are some of the most representative examples, to which must be added the recent Repercussion, by the artist Carla Diana, which added a dynamically resizable isometric perspective which makes possible to structurate the sounds into sharp-cornered elements which are then smoothly played at the right moment. It's another of the many possibilities to create digital instruments with an interface whose pixelated appearance is typical of computer artifacts and promises a more familiar three-dimensional vision, even if with static coordinates. This interface, which can be smoothly manipulated, perfectly illustrates the potential of the musical interface, ready to guide the user into the cultural stimulation he needs.
