10.12.02 Zelig rc.2, l'information veut tre libre (information wants to be free).
On December 9th begins in Paris Zelig.rc2, the closest event to a hackmeeting among those organized in France. The event proposes through a dense schedule of meetings and seminars a panoramic view of new media with neither reverential awe nor borderline techno-speak. In a melting pot of activists, cyberfeminists, hackers, newbies, expert programmers, militants, technojunkies, cyborgs and temp workers, will be discussed themes such as cyberfeminism and the role of women in the immaterial jobs (with the participation of Cornelia Sollfrank), cryptography on the Macintosh computers, Palladium, free software for educational purposes, videosurveillance in the Ile de France (the region around Paris), the administration of community mailing lists, the free software for hosting AlterC, dangers and extensions of copyright, Wi-Fi, cryptography on GNU/Linux and a presentation of the activities of the Yesmen group. During the week, as it already happens in Italy and Spain, there will be a mix of political debates and technical workshops, in a context of communication and reciprocal sharing of knowledge, where innovation is social before being technological, and wants to continue its transformation free from the chains of the market and invulnerable to political repression.
